Shaver Lakes kokanee bite is hit or miss. Some are changing depths and finding them and others are fishing above them, says Dick Nichols of Dick's Fishing Charters. The kokes have gone deeper into the 70 foot or better range, obviously in deep water. Earl Taniguchi, Carl House and Terry Walton continue to put three limits of nice kokanee in the boat each trip. Taniguchi is a top notch kokanee fisherman and is always playing the depths to locate fish. For others, the bite has slowed, primarily due to fishing at the wrong depth. Orange Apex or spinners tipped with corn are doing the best behind blades or Mini Mountain Flashers.

The trout bite is good with many planters available. They can be found in the top 20 foot column and flasher/crawler combinations are doing best. Trophies are still biting as evidenced by a nice 4 pounder caught by Bob Hatmaker of Arroyo Grande who was fishing with Nichols. "We have caught 6 trophies in the past 10 days and have found them around the island and road 2 point at 20 to 62 feet deep", Nichols said.

Bank fishermen are finding some luck near roads 1 and 2, the dam and Edison Camp. Power bait or crawlers have been the best from the bank.
